KEPCO KDN, a subsidiary of South Korea’s utility monopoly responsible for IT services for power generation, transmission and distribution, said on Monday it is participating in the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) T&D 2018, the world’s largest trade fair for the electricity industry, held in Denver, Colorado on April 17-19.
The biennial event has taken place in major cities across the U.S. and is recognized as one of the world’s top three power grid exhibitions along with Dubai’s Middle East Electricity and Hannover Messe. The Denver show attracts some 800 exhibitors from 50 plus countries. The previous IEEE T&D 2016 held in Texas attracted 855 companies and about 15,000 visitors.
At this year’s show, KEPCO KDN presents a suite of seven advanced energy ICT products and solutions: five intelligent power distribution operating systems for future industries (IEC 61850-based monitoring and diagnosis system for electric power culverts, next-generation power distribution intelligence system, power IoT, decentralized power operating system, solar power control system), as well as MG-EMS (Micro Grid Energy Management System), Web GIS-based power management service platform K-GIS.
“We joined the exhibition in hopes for creating new profit leads that will offset possibly low profitability of the state-run energy enterprise. We plan to apply home-grown technology to overseas customers and serve as a driving force for the export of power ICT solutions," said a company official.
