South Korea’s largest automaker Hyundai Motor Co. said on Friday that its new large-sized flagship SUV is set for a reveal at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Nov.28 after confirming its name is Palisade.
The three-row SUV designed with a focus on user convenience and safety will provide new value to the global large-sized SUV market, according to the company. It offers comfortable and spacious eight-passenger seating with simple but luxurious interior. With much improved rear-seat access, users can easily control the second and third-row seats through a push button that activates electronically.
The new SUV is named after the Pacific Palisades, an affluent coastal neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, the company explained.
The Korean auto giant hopes the new large-sized flagship SUV can help it bolster its global sales, as it attributed its sluggish global sales to the absence of large-size SUV despite the growing demand in the world’s two largest auto markets, the U.S. and China. The company plans to launch another SUV model GV80 next year, the first SUV version of its luxury brand Genesis, to accelerate its overall SUV sales across the world.
The company will take pre-orders for the Palisade in Korea at the end of this month.
