Deputy Prime Minister for economy Kim Dong-yeon doubling as Strategy and Finance Minister (second from left in the front row) toured Samsung Electronics Co.’s semiconductor manufacturing plant in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, on Monday morning at the guidance of Jay Y. Lee, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics (second from right in the front row). Lee showed Kim around the manufacturing lines of the world’s largest chipmaker. Kim was accompanied by vice ministers from economy-related offices, while key executives from Samsung Electronics and parts suppliers attended the meeting discussing ways to boost jobs and innovation. Lee who was released from prison after he was acquitted by the appeals court on bribery charges related to ousted President Park Geun-hye also had met President Moon Jae-in in the opening ceremony of a smartphone factory in India.
