Samsung Electronics Co.’s QLED 8K TV was named the best TV by Video, an acclaimed German tech magazine, a recognition that it hopes can bolster its title as the leading premium TV brand against its archrival LG Electronics Inc.
The Korean tech giant said Monday its latest Q900R model received 949 points, the highest mark in the TV category, breaking the former records set by its 2017 and 2018 QLED models.
Under an article titled “A New TV Era,” the magazine said Samsung’s latest QLED TV has opened a “new era in screen resolution,” praising its enhanced contrast, expressive resolution and wider color palette that offers 4,000 nits of peak brightness.
It also touted Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Processor 8K, a new feature that automatically scales up the sound and images of content into near-8K quality based on machine-learning artificial intelligence.
Samsung’s Magic Screen garnered praise for transforming the typical black screen into an interactive background that displays decorative content or useful information like the latest news, weather and time.
Its “one-visible connection,” which merges the power cable and optical cable into one slim near-invisible connection, and “no gap wall-mount,” which allows the TV to hang on the wall leaving almost no space in between, were also recognized for their simple design that help keep the home tidier and clutter-free.
