Hanwha Q Cells Co. said on Wednesday it has secured its international partnership with German top-flight football club RB Leipzig ahead of schedule for another two Bundesliga seasons.
RasenBallsport Leipzig e.V., commonly known as RB Leipzig, is a German association football club based in Leipzig, Saxony, close to Hanwha Q Cells’ R&D Center.
The club founded in 2009 at the initiative of Red Bull GmbH was promoted to the professional football club seven years later.
The contract extension means that the Q Cells brand will continue to advertise its “Engineered in Germany” solar solutions at the Red Bull Arena until the end of the 2019/2020 season, as an international partner of the `Red Bulls.’
The partnership also includes ad exposure near the goals, on the LED hoardings around the pitch and exclusively on the team benches for sure visibility in the media and on TV.
Furthermore, as part of the international partnership, the Q Cells brand will appear for the first time on EA Sports video game FIFA 19 whenever RB Leipzig home matches are played.
The sponsorship was renewed amid market unrest caused by U.S. safeguards and China’s subsidy cut against foreign photovoltaic products, which has made the Korean company more devoted to the stable European PV market.
Hanwha Chemical earlier announced it was merging Hanwha Q Cells into holding entity Hanwha Solar Holdings to boost business efficiency. Hanwha Q Cells as result would take steps to delist off the Nasdaq.
