South Korea’s Samsung C&T Corp., the fashion and trading arm of Samsung Group, announced Monday that it will sell products of American shoe and exercise clothing label Brooks Running under exclusive contract.
Founded in 1914, Brooks Running takes up the largest share in the U.S. running gear market, and is one of the top three running labels in the world. The Seattle-based firm just focusing on manufacturing running apparels and footwear has been operating more than 50 countries.
Samsung C&T’s fashion division has decided to open Brooks Running flagship store in Gangnam, southern Seoul, to capitalize on the trend of young Koreans staying fit in style.
The store with four stories above the ground and one underground will be sitting on a 142.8-square-meter area and provide total solutions for runners. Through its signature Shoe Finder tool, it will recommend the best running shoes to individual consumers depending on various factors including their feet position and running style.
An official from the company said it expects to lead the local running market with Brooks Running’s expertise and technology amid the growing wellness trend and number of runners in the country.
