U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stood face to face at the Capella Hotel in Singapore for the first-ever summit between the two states. After a brief handshake photo session, the two entered a tete-a-tete accompanied by interpreters for 35 minutes, followed up by expanded meeting with senior foreign and security advisers from the two sides. Kim said “The past and wrong customs have often hid our eyes and ears, but we have come this far by overcoming all that” in his opening remark. Trump said he was “honored” to meet Kim. “We’re going to have a great discussion…A tremendous success.”
