South Korea’s second largest automaker Kia Motors Corp. on Thursday opened preorders for its fastback sports sedan Stinger whose top-of-the-line model is capable of hitting 0-60 miles per hour (mph) in a mere 5.1 seconds.
The rear -wheel-drive sedan built on the Gran Turisomo (GT) concept that was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011 hit domestic showrooms next month with price tag starting from 44.6 million won ($39,546) to 49.1 million won for the range-topping 3.3 liter-engine twin-turbo V6 engine. It only takes 5.1 seconds for the model to reach 60 miles per hour and 6 seconds for the model equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is priced from 35 million won to 38.1 million won. The other 2.2-liter diesel engine model’s price is to vary from 37.2 million won to 40.6 million won.
All models will come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as well as various safety and driver assistance technology, such as surround view monitoring system and head-up display.
