English-speaking Bixby, the voice assistant mounted on Galaxy S8 series, will be ready for deployment mid-July as it has not fully mastered the language and due to conflict of interests with search engine providers, said its developer Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics’ self-developed digital assistant was first deployed on Galaxy S8 series that hit the market in April first in Korean language capacity. Samsung vowed Bixby would be activated in English from May but pushed back the date to June and again to July.

“We are thinking after July 10,” said a Samsung Electronics official regarding the new release date.

Samsung Electronics has trained English-speaking Bixby under the MS Bing platform but received strong complaint from its long-time Android partner Google, said the official.

The delay in the English version would likely affect the schedule of releases in other languages. Samsung Electronics vowed to release the Chinese version in June and Spanish and German within the year.
