Samsung’s voice assistant Bixby deployed for S8 mobile bank svc

Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday its voice-activated assistant Bixby currently mounted on Galaxy S8 smartphones can activate mobile banking services of Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, and KEB Hana Bank.

Money transmissions, deposit checks, and currency conversions at the banks can now be done through voice command, said the company.

This Bixby-enabled service is interconnected with the company’s mobile payment service Samsung Pay and biometric authentication system Samsung Pass that are available on Galaxy S8 phones. The identification and mobile pay system can be activated through Bixby.

Identity authentication method varies by type of service. Currency rates can be viewed through fingerprints but services demanding extra security such as access to bank accounts will require iris scanning.

To enable Bixby in mobile banking, users will need to install the bank app offered on the Samsung Pay Bank service menu.
